The Mikado
The Mikado is a comic opera by Gilbert & Sullivan set in the fictional town of Titipu, Japan. Although it takes place in a supposedly foreign locale, it is truly a satire about Western culture. This promotional series for the performance of The Mikado at the Boston Opera House includes a poster, lamp post banners, Playbill cover, and CD packaging. The designs were done as travel posters to show the Japanese location in a typically Western style.
