Book design for Rising: Poems of the Destruction and Rebirth of New Orleans, a collection of poems about Hurricane Katrina and its impact on the city. The first half of the book deals with the destruction and the pages are black; the second half deals with the rebirth of New Orleans after the storm and the pages are white. Many of the included photographs are ones that I took on my visits to New Orleans. The book was bound by hand and the front cover is layered black and white book cloth—a reference to the water line left by Katrina. There is a belly band with the title which can move up and down.
Photographs edited with Adobe Photoshop and pages laid out with Adobe InDesign.
